Task Force to Provide FHWA Feedback Regarding Expediteing Construction

A new task force of the AASHTO/AGC/ARTBA Joint Committee focused on expediting project delivery held its first meeting January 15 in Washington.

The panel is tasked with developing management, policy, regulatory, and legislative recommendations that could significantly accelerate highway and transit project delivery. It was organized at the request of Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez to provide input to a new FHWA priority initiative called "Every Day Counts" to cut project delivery time.

The group expects to have initial recommendations ready this spring. Task force members were joined at the first meeting by FHWA Deputy Administrator Greg Nadeau, Chief Counsel Karen Hedlund, and Associate Administrator for Infrastructure King Gee.

AASHTO task force members include: Task Force Co-Chair Steve DeWitt, NC; David Sadler, FL; Geoffrey Kolberg, MD; Kevin Chesnik, WI; Joyce Taylor, ME; Jay Norvell, CA; and Jim McMinimee, retired from UT.
