AASHTO has recently launched its own Twitter account. Follow AASHTO's tweets at twitter.com/aashtospeaks.
The association tweeted seven times during this week's AASHTO Washington Briefing in Crystal City, VA. Tweets included AASHTO Journal breaking news alerts about developments with the Highway Trust Fund shutdown, statements from Executive Director John Horsley regarding the trust fund situation and all states achieving the 100 percent obligation deadline for recovery act highway funds, and video of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood's Wednesday breakfast speech. Results of a new survey conducted by AASHTO show that a growing number of state transportation departments are communicating critical news and information with travelers using Twitter, Facebook, and other social media.
