Mileage-Based User Fee Alliance Launches Website & Newsletter |
|
The Mileage-Based User Fee Alliance, a Washington-based organization dedicated to promoting the practice of mileage-based user fees as a sustainable and equitable mechanism for transportation funding, last month unveiled a website and published the first issue of its newsletter.
"Our coalition's mission is to promote the necessary research and provide education and information as consideration is given to transitioning to a new robust way of ensuring we can as a nation finance our future transportation infrastructure," according to a message posted on the new website. "It is clear that if we are to pay for future surface transportation infrastructure needs, we must have the systems in place to collect the revenues to meet the needs." MBUFA was founded last August as a nonprofit organization to provide a unified voice toward information and education on the topic of a vehicle-miles-traveled fee. Members include the state transportation departments in Oregon, Nevada, Minnesota, and California; the New York City Department of Transportation; the International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike Association; Verdeva LLC; SRF Consulting Group; Parsons Brinckerhoff; Reason Foundation; Wilbur Smith Associates; and Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS. Its staff of three is led by Executive Director Barb Rohde. The new website is available at www.mbufa.org. The newsletter is available at bit.ly/MBUFAnews.
