Colorful Campaign in Colorado City Encourages Carpooling |
|
The city of Boulder, Colorado, is launching a campaign over Labor Day weekend to encourage drivers to consider commuting without their car one day each week.
The program asks drivers to do their share to cut down on the number of cars on the road, which will help to reduce air pollution, cut carbon-dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming, and reduce road rage, the Daily Camera reported. Boulder officials are asking drivers to use a different mode of transportation on days that correlate with the color of their cars. Drivers who go carless on their day of the week are eligible to win prizes donated by campaign sponsors. Participation in the program, "Driven to Drive Less," will be voluntary.
