Saenz to Serve Another 2 Years as Highways Committee Leader 

AASHTO President Butch Brown announced this week that he has reappointed Amadeo Saenz Jr. to serve another two-year term as chairman of the association's Standing Committee on Highways.

Saenz is executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation and has chaired the panel for the last two years. He will continue to lead the committee through August 2012.

The committee is responsible for developing all major engineering standards, guides, and policies for the highway program. It is charged with investigating, studying, and reporting on all engineering activities and developments including all phases of road and bridge design, construction, maintenance, traffic requirements, roadside development, aesthetics, tests and investigations of materials, and protection of the environment. It makes recommendations regarding needed research, promotes and encourages technology transfer by member states and related research agencies, and is responsible for providing a full range of highway engineering publications for the association.
