The National Highway Institute announced this week it will hold a webinar later this month on how transit agencies are exploring integrating ridesharing with transit programs.
The webinar will report on the Transit Cooperative Research Program's (TCRP) "Synthesis 98: Ridesharing as a Complement to Transit: A Synthesis of Transit Practice." Gail Murray, author of the report, is scheduled to talk about the results of her investigation into the different ways transit agencies are utilizing ridesharing (vanpooling and carpooling) to close service gaps and reach areas typically difficult to serve.
Also scheduled to present on the webinar are representatives from transit agencies King County Metro of Seattle and the Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission of Northern Virginia. Once presentations are complete, a question and answer session will take place to explore ridesharing further.
The webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 3-4 p.m. EST, will be presented by the Ridesharing Institute with support from the National Transportation Operations Coalition, the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the Association for Commuter Transportation, and the American Public Transportation Association.
