New from AASHTO: June Update to the Materials Book

The June update to the Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing, and AASHTO Provisional Standards (the “Materials Book”) has been released!

The Materials Book is available as an online annual subscription. It is updated three times annually. AASHTO is pleased to announce the latest update pertaining to General Manufactured Materials. This update includes one new specification and six revised specifications.

If you are a subscriber, you will automatically have access to these new and revised specifications.

If you are not a subscriber, subscribe today to assure you always have access to the latest specification!

In April, AASHTO released updates to the sections pertaining to Hydraulic Cements, Concrete, Concrete-Related Materials, Pavement Serviceability, Environmental Quality, and Quality Assurance.

In August, AASHTO will release updates to the sections on Geotechnical, Bituminous Materials, and Mixtures.

A Policy on Design Standards—Interstate System, 6th Edition

These standards reflect the minimum standards that apply to Interstate highway segments constructed on new right-of-way and segments undergoing reconstruction along existing right-of-way. These standards, which include changes based on research and practice since the previous 2005 edition, are designed for use with A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 6th Edition (the “Green Book”). Design values are presented in both U.S. customary and metric units. 2016. 12 pp.

Established in 1956, National Bike Month, celebrated every May in the United States, gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to highlight the many ways bicycling benefits people and communities. In this Transportation TV retrospective, we look back at National Bike Month 2016. Our video begins in the nation’s capital and takes you on a tour of several states to show you the importance of bicycling to departments of transportation; aimed at building multimodal transportation systems. Biking gives citizens greater travel and recreation options, and leads to healthier, more livable communities.
